Acclaim Energy Mexico incorporates a new Director of Business Development
We are pleased to announce our newest member to the Acclaim Energy Mexico team:
Leopoldo A. Salinas is from Monterrey, Mexico, and has nearly 20 years of experience in the private electricity sector in Mexico. He is a Mechanical Engineer from UDEM, got a MBA from IPADE in 2002 and a postgraduate degree with a specialty in Mexican Energy Law from UDEM in 2017. He completed business administration programs at Thunderbird School of Business, has been certified in business by Harvard University, and in 2016 completed the Leadership, Technology and Business for Experts program at MIT Sloan School of Business. In 2001, he began his activity in the electricity industry as the Manager of Contracts and Regulation in Alfa’s Enertek cogeneration plant, to later work for Iberdrola Mexico as the Energy Admin Manager until 2008, the same year that he joined Alfa as director of the group’s new power generation businesses, being in charge of the areas of energy planning, management and administration.
He was responsible for negotiating the PPAs of all Alfa companies in Mexico and managing them with 7 different suppliers; He developed the Tres Mesas wind farm project from its initial phase until its commercial operation and led the commercial team responsible for placing the total capacity of the CELCSA and CGA cogeneration plants. After the acquisition of these two plants, he collaborated with ContourGlobal as Commercial and Business Development director until July 2020.
From 2008 to the end of 2019, he was a member of the CONCAMIN Technical Commission, in which he participated in the review and creation of proposals for the regulation of the new wholesale electricity market and, in recent months, was the company’s representative in the boards of directors of AME, which brings together the largest private power generators companies in the country. In the last months, he collaborated in the development of the strategy to legally defend the interests of CG and its clients against the latest regulatory changes presented by the federal government. In his spare time, Leopoldo enjoys conducting his investigations on his family tree.
