Ruben De Los Santos is an energy and power industry expert with over 26 years of experience. Ruben frequently collaborates with numerous commercial and industrial customers, offering risk management strategies and helping customers secure electricity agreements that include exceptional terms and conditions, while also utilizing the best and most favorable power products applicable to the business’s needs.
Ruben’s comprehensive understanding of strategic energy management comes from the various positions he has held throughout his career. Ruben’s career in the energy industry began with his position at American Electric Power, where he worked for 10 years as a Key Account Manager. He also worked as a Demand Side Management Program Manager, where he gained a deep understanding of regulated utility tariffs, the transport of electricity from the generator to the end use meter, and the utilization of electro-technologies to drive energy savings.
Ruben’s most significant impact to customers is on the de-regulated side of the energy business, as Director of Program and Sales for Cavallo Energy Texas, as well as during his tenure with NRG/Reliant Energy for the 13 years prior where he operated in various management and director roles. He is highly adept at educating customers on mitigating risks, optimizing energy services and improving financial performance.
As Vice President for Acclaim Energy, he is accountable for expanding and securing new business in Mexico and the US. He will also advise clients on developing strategic energy management programs, monitoring the market to proactively counsel clients on how to mitigate risk and ways to seize opportunities in the natural gas and electricity marketplace.
Ruben earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, along with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Texas A&I University (now Texas A&M) in Kingsville, Texas. Ruben is a member of the Association of Energy Engineers and is a Certified Energy Manager.
